The Wellness morning provides
a safe, gentle space for healing, in an otherwise harsh
environment.
In the heart of Masiphumelele,
complementary health practitioners and trainees offer a range of
free therapies and treatments to local residents. Visitors from
the more affluent surrounding communities also support our
trainees and utilise these services on a donation basis. This
takes place every Tuesday morning from 9.00a.m – 12.30p.m at the
Pink House and includes: Shiatsu, reflexology, traditional
healing – homoeopathy and herbal treatment, tarot readings, kinesiology and
massage. Massage training, talks on use of herbs , family constellation
workshops, nutritional advice, pregnancy support and outreach
work are also offered.
Trained massage workers
undertake
home visits to disabled, elderly and frail people who are
bedridden and unable to attend the Wellness morning. This work
is supervised by professional physiotherapist Wieke van Zyl. We are
fundraising to employ more massage workers to spread this work.
Since 2010 Wellness Morning
also operates in Ocean View from the Catholic Church Hall on
Wednesday from 9am- 12.30pm. Physiotherapy and Massage are
offered there.
Blood pressure, pulse and
weight are monitored and nutritional assessments are done on
request at both Masi and Ocean View.
